Old Men of the Almshouse.

Art historian and critic Mark Gisbourne commented in 2013:

In two quite exceptional paintings, Old Men of The Almshouse  and Old Women of The Almshouse (1979), we confront what is an extraordinary homage as contemporary versions of the Dutch tradition of group portraiture, emblematised by Rembrandt and Hals. The paintings are intentional quotes of Frans Hals’s Regents of the Old Men’s Almshouse and Regentesses of the Old Men’s Almshouse (1664) but with the characteristic Lenkiewicz twist that it is the clients of the charitable institution who are represented, not the comfortable administrators of the charity.
