Memory of 1970's on Barbican outside studio

I remember in the 70's when I was approximately 12 years old walking with my sister and Mother (my Mum came from Plymouth) by the big mural on the Barbican, there was a notice outside saying portraits done. My Mother wanted me and my sister to go in to see the Artist Robert Lenkiewicz but we were shy and wouldn't go in. We didn't have a lot of time as we had to meet my Dad, so my Mum who was really keen to meet him went in with our boxer Dog (leaving us outside) to enquire about portraits. She came out and Robert Lenkiewicz had drawn our dog. I remember she was really pleased as it was unexpected she talked about meeting the artist and I clearly remember her saying he was very intelligent. We had the signed picture framed and it still hangs in my pride of place in my parents house. I am 50 now and when I go down to Plymouth and walk on the Barbican it always brings back happy memories.
